Pinterest

It has been way too long since I've gotten my craft on! I've been spending a ton of time on Pinterest and decided I should finally make something I've pinned. So, here's what I started with...

White yarn, red felt, a foam ring, scissors and hot glue (not pictured).

Wrap the yarn around the ring...don't worry about it being perfect. That's impossible. :) Then make some felt flowers to attach.  (All of the directions can be found at www.danielleburkleo.com).

The finished product. :) I used straight pins to attach the flowers, so I can switch them out for different seasons.

It's new home on our front door. Festive right? :o)

Welcome

A while back, Joel and I headed to the hardware store for some crafting supplies.

I have been trying to find something to hang in our entryway. It's a really tall and skinny wall and I couldn't find anything to go there...

So, I thought, why not just make something?

Joel helped me get everything cut out and I got to work. I'm really happy with the finished product. :)

Cards

My sister-in-law and I had a craft day a couple of weeks ago. Here are a few cards I made...

Polka Dot Walls

So, I finally finished painting the nursery today. I painted it gray and added subtle polka dots to the walls. We're going to be doing black and white bedding. The carpet is going in this week and I'm super excited to see everything start to go together. Here's a tutorial on how to paint polka dots on a wall. Enjoy. :)

The Before:

First: Paint the wall color of your choosing. A light gray for us.

Next, I used my Cricut to cut out vinyl circles of various sizes and remove the actual circles, so you're left with an outline. (I had a sample pack of vinyl and used the colors I thought I wouldn't actually use for any projects.)

Cut apart the outlines, peel and stick where you would like on the wall.

Once you're sure of placement, the painting can begin! We have textured walls, so it's a bit trickier, but not bad. Paint the inside edge of the circle with the same color you painted on the wall to prevent your new color from bleeding under the vinyl.

Once that has dried, paint with your new color; filling in the entire circle. I painted the walls with an eggshell finish and got the same color in semi-gloss that I mixed with a bit of white to make it just a tad lighter.

Finally, carefully peel the vinyl from the wall while the paint is still wet to prevent it from peeling off with the vinyl.

I love how subtle it is and how the light reflects off the glossier paint.

Happy painting!

Happy Happy Birthday

A birthday card for my friend, Emily. :)
I bought lots of supplies for the many crafty things I want to do over the next few weeks, so keep your eyes peeled. I'm also doing a craft show in November with my sister-in-law, so I'll be busy getting things ready for that. :)

Shower

I was a busy girl today! I was asked to make some Bridal Shower invites for Joel's cousin (he has lots of cousins). I love my Cricut for making a large quantity of items...works great! I made 16 of these bad boys today.

I'm loving the polka dots! :)

Baby Boy

Joel's cousin had the most adorable baby boy on Friday and I headed over to see him today, and bring the new parents some dinner. :) I just had to make a cute personalized card and gift bag too. Who needs to buy gift bags anyway??

Little Nolan's card...

...and gift bag. :)

Photo Boards

Well, I promised some new projects this week and here is #1. My neighbor and I have been talking about making photo boards for about a year; seriously. We finally did it! I made two of them to go downstairs in my crafting area and she made one for each of her girls. :)

The supplies:

The finished product. Megan and her board. :)

Taylor and her board. :)

My boards...now to get Joel to hang them. :) Hopefully if I ask nicely...

Birthday

I always find it hard to make birthday cards for guys, but I think I made a couple of winners this weekend. We celebrated Joel's and my dads birthdays today, so I had to have cards for them. :)

One for Joel...

One for my dad...he's a huge Disney fan!

I told you all that I had plans for some fun crafts this week; here's a preview...
Hmmm...what could this be? Any ideas? :)

Baby

On tonight's agenda; a baby shower card for a girl I work with. :) It's not my favorite card I've ever made, but I suppose it will do. Looking forward to lots of posts next week. I have quite the to-do list of crafts...and they're definitely not all cards. :)

Spring card

Tonight, I enjoyed an evening of crafting with my awesome sister-in-law, Ashley. She introduced me to a great blog that gives a card making challenge each week to do on my Cricut, so I thought I would give it a go this week. The rules for this week were to make a card for spring, using the colors pink, green and white only....here it is. :)

Postcards :)

Well, this is my first post on the new blog. Fun stuff! Tonight I made some personalized post cards for my "Secret Encourager" at school. It's something we started last year to help us get through the long stretch from winter break to spring break. If you want to be a part of it, you put your name in the drawing and surprise your person with a little something each day...kind of fun. :) Hope you enjoy.
